Today's guest is Dylan Doose, author of the epic fantasy series, THE SWORD AND SORCERY SERIES. Dylan is here today to answer 20 questions about his life, writing and goals.
- Are you
a morning writer or a night writer?
I’m
a morning writer. I like to write before I do anything else.
- Do you
outline or are you a pantser?
I don’t outline. I know where the story begins and where it
ends and I fill in the rest as I go.
- Which
comes first – plot or character?
Character. I usually come up with a character’s backstory
that ends up fitting into a plot. I need to have a very close relationship with
the character before I start to write.
- Noise or
quiet when working on your manuscript?
I listen to music while I write. I listen to a wide variety
of music from classical to movie scores to hard rock. The music must fit the
scene that I’m writing.
- Favorite
TV show?
Right now, Lovecraft Country. Other favorite shows are The
Leftovers, Twin Peaks, True Detective, and Fargo.
- Favorite
type of music?
Rock, 100%. I like progressive rock songs that feel like a
journey or a story. I listen to Metallica more than any other band while I
write.
- Favorite
craft besides writing?
Sculpting.
- Do you play
a musical instrument?
No. I tried the drums and the guitar, but mastered neither.
- Single
or married?
Single.
10. Children or no?
No.
11. Pets?
Two dogs (border collie X Australian shepherd) and
a snake (ball python).
12. Favorite place to write?
My office.
13. Favorite restaurant?
I don’t like restaurants. I prefer to cook my own
meals, although I’m not averse to a nice sushi dinner.
14. Do you work outside the home?
No.
15. What was the name of the last movie you saw?
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
16. Favorite outdoor activity?
Hiking and bike riding.
17. Pet peeve?
Too many to list.
18. Your goal in life?
To traverse into an alternate dimension.

The most exciting moment is the one I’m in.

The love of
