Life in Wyoming Territory
1870
A Fallacious Seduction
Nineteen-year-old Shanna Marie Johnston wants a family and a normal life. She lives in Rock Creek with her aunt and uncle and visits her mother once a year. Her mother knows a secret about Shanna’s past and will not let Shanna stay in Omaha with her. She sends Shanna back to Rock Creek for safety. Reluctantly, Shanna goes. When the train she is riding on explodes, she discovers she is one of only two survivors. She wakes on the ground with U.S. Marshal Reese Calhan’s gun in her face. Shanna does not understand why he thinks he knows her and calls her by another woman’s name.
Shanna decides the marshal is delusional from the train accident. The problem is, he knows things about her few people do. Shanna is confused and more than a little nervous. The marshal swears to see her behind bars for the crimes she has committed. Crimes Shanna knows nothing about.
Reese’s heated looks and knowing kisses arouse a fire in her she cannot ignore. Danger, organized crime, and murder lead the two on a wild ride as the passion between them explodes.
There is plenty of sass from my feisty heroine in this story. She intrigues and frustrates my hero until the end. There is plenty of tension between the two of them to keep you turning pages. I had such a good time writing it. There were times my characters would not let me sleep, and I had to get up and write until they were satisfied. It was a sad day when I finished the story and sent my manuscript away. I wanted to stay in Rock Creek with the characters I created. Reese has three brothers who could all use a good romance. I have Chase’s story halfway done.
So, in a way, I never left Rock Creek.
If someone were to ask me what surprised me the most when
writing this story, it would be the conveniences and inventions already in
daily use. Every time I researched a particular thing such as indoor plumbing, I
was surprised by the answer. Light bulbs were not invented for another nine
years so candles, lanterns, coal oil lamps, etc were normal items. Frontier
life was hard. The women had to be tough and the men tougher. They did not have
Instacare to run to when they got hurt. Often, they used what they could to
solve whatever problem presented.
I enjoy historical romances and researching what life was
like for them back then. It is my hope my readers enjoy my books as much as I enjoy
writing them.

Title: A FALLACIOUS SEDUCTION
Author: Virginia Barlow
Publisher: The Wild Rose Press
Pages: 282
Genre: Historical Western Romance
When the train US Marshal Reese Calhan is riding on explodes, he is one of two survivors. Trouble is, the other survivor is the woman who betrayed him years ago. A woman he thought was dead. This time he will not fall prey to her wiles. He’ll see the vixen jailed for her crimes if it kills him.
Recovering from a recent jilting and now a train explosion, Shanna Johnston has no idea why the handsome stranger insists he knows her and calls her by another woman’s name. His heated looks and knowing kisses spark a fire in her she cannot ignore–even as her own mysterious past is closing in.
“A Fallacious Seduction is a fantastic historical western romance I couldn’t put down…Virginia Barlow writes with honesty and shares what life was life for many women on the frontier. The descriptive narration paints a raw picture of the wild west which swept me away. The plot moves at a good pace with plenty of conflicts, misunderstandings and colorful characters. There’s a lot going on in this story but at the heart of it is Shanna and Reese. The romance between these two is classic enemies-to-lovers but with a fun western twist. I thoroughly enjoyed it, especially the ending. If you’re looking for a feisty heroine in the wild west frontier, pick up A Fallacious Seduction. Fans of Cynthia Wright will love this tale. Highly recommend! “-N.N. Light’s Book Heaven
