Can you tell us how your book got its name?
The setting of Blazing Upheaval is in Los Angeles during the Rodney King riots and the Northridge earthquake. “Blazing” describes the riots and “Upheaval” describes the earthquake.
What is your favorite part of writing Blazing Upheaval?
I like to transform real-life narratives into gripping fiction thrillers. I'm amazed by the experiences and events people are unexpectedly thrown into. They inspire me with their strength and courage, facing daunting circumstances. I intricately weave the threads of their story into a tapestry of suspense and intrigue.
Can you give me a brief description of your characters?
The main character in the story is Tiffany Carter. She is medium height, athletic, graceful, long strawberry blond hair, sparkling blue eyes, and attractive with a beautiful smile. She teaches at Leo Politi Elementary School in the central area of Los Angeles. She includes teaching Djembe drum rhythms to her second-grade class. It relieves their tension and helps them focus.
The other characters in the story are her family and others thrown into the horrific events of the Rodney King riots.
Will there be a sequel?
Each thriller is a complete story in itself.
Do you have music or the TV on when you write?
No. Quiet is nice when I’m writing. Sometimes my husband is watching sports in the background but that is easy to tune out.
What is the snack and or beverage you need when you write?
I usually have a cup of coffee, rarely popcorn.

I would like to be remembered for Blazing Upheaval.
What do you hope readers will take away from your book after they’ve finished it?
Through this book, I hope readers will learn more about these significant events and get a feel for what the people endured, and suffered, and the incredible resilience they showed. These events were not just historical footnotes but lived experiences that profoundly affected individuals and communities. The courage, solidarity, and determination I saw inspired me to capture these moments in a way that honors the real-life heroes who navigated through them.
