Writing: The Story Behind Pokergeist

By Michael Phillip Cash
My uncle Kevin is obsessed with poker. One day, he called me up, as both talk about gambling and poker quite frequently, and he said he had a great idea for book. Being he isn’t a writer, he wanted me to have the idea. What would you do if you had a ghost telling you what all the other player’s cards are. I was floored, and I piped the title Poker…geist. He began cracking up and I knew this was my next story.  I began write the story arc of Clutch and Telly that night.  Days later I had the entire story beat out.  Three weeks later I had one of the best scripts ever written. Four weeks after that Pokergeist the novel was born.
