# 10 THINGS

10 Things You Might Not Know About Fiona Ingram @fionarobyn #10Things

Fiona Ingram is a children’s author, but up until a few years ago, she was a journalist and editor. Something rather unexpected sparked her new career as an author—a family trip to Egypt with her mother and two young nephews. They had a great time and she thought she’d write them a short story as a different kind of souvenir…. Well, one book and a planned book series later, she had changed careers. She has now published Book 3 (The Temple of the Crystal Timekeeper) in her middle grade adventure series Chronicles of the Stone, with many awards for the first book, The Secret of the Sacred Scarab, a few for Book 2, The Search for the Stone of Excalibur, and several for Book 3! She also teaches online novel writing for aspiring authors and she finds that very satisfying. Fiona’s experience with raising an adopted, disadvantaged African child struggling with literacy got her interested in the subject and she has written numerous articles on child literacy. Relaxation time finds her enjoying something creative or artistic, music, books, going to the theater or ballet. She enjoys doing research for her book series. Fiona loves animals and has written two animal rescue stories. She has two adorable (naughty) little rescue dogs called Stanley and Pumpkin, and a beautiful black cat called Bertie.

10 Things You Might Not Know Fiona Ingram

1. Fiona is an avid reader and enjoys researching all her Middle Grade adventures deeply. She thinks of research as fun and includes many details of her research in the Companion Guides to her books,

2. Fiona loves animals, and all her pets are rescues. The most recent is Stanley, a wire-haired terrier who was abandoned and found wandering near her home.

3. Fiona is a tea fanatic and cannot start the day without a pot of tea at her elbow. She also collects teapots!

4. Fiona’s favorite kind of history is ancient history, and all her Middle Grade adventures refer to wonderful facts and legends about ancient cultures.

5. Fiona teaches novel writing online and considers it a privilege to share her knowledge with budding authors who are just starting out.

6. Fiona also writes Regency romances under a pseudonym (Arabella Sheraton) so be sure to check out those books on Amazon. Arabella has developed into quite a character and even has her own Twitter account which Fiona manages.

7. Fiona was born and raised in South Africa but has traveled the world. She now lives in Cyprus, in a little village outside Paphos. Country life is very agreeable, and the only noise is that of birds singing!

8. Fiona adores antiques, having inherited many beautiful things and items of furniture from her great-grandmother and thinks this is why she loves reading and writing about the past.

9. Fiona is an excellent cook and loves giving dinner parties. Luckily, one of her inheritance pieces is a superb, large dining room table and chairs reminiscent of Downton Abbey.

10. Fiona loves movies! In her opinion, movies can teach budding authors so much about technique: character development, cliff-hangers, suspense, plot points, stories, and more.
