📚 Back Story: Like Driftwood on the Salish Sea by Richard I. Levine #BackStories

📚Back Story: LIKE DRIFTWOOD ON THE SALISH SEA

By Richard I. Levine

I definitely didn’t plan this book or these characters in advance. This is my sixth novel and each time the idea came to me in a way that would make most people would think I need to be examined by a professional. Nonetheless, whether I call it my little voice, intuition, my spirit guides or angels, it’s not only the idea for the story that comes to me without warning and from out of nowhere, but it’s also an ongoing inexplainable inspirational feeling that seems to take over during the writing process. I suppose that’s called being in the zone.

But as with my other novels, the people, the locations, and the basic story simply comes to me in a vision and music has always been the trigger that seems to set the wheels in motion. And there’s no predicting which piece of music will do that, but I suspect that it has something to do vibrational energies (mine and the music) that are vibrating at the same frequency. When it happens, it’s as real to me as anything that anyone sees in front of their eyes. So, it’s not just any music or particular songs, but it’s the way they are orchestrated--tempo, key, volume, types of instruments--that have instantaneously given birth to a story, its characters, relationships, locations, etc. For me, that kind of music, that vibration, simultaneously creates a feeling and a picture that resonates. It doesn’t happen all the time, but when it does, I know I have my next novel. And then there’s this little voice in my head (spirit guides? Guardian angels? Intuition?) that says something to the effect: “This one, do this one”. With Like Driftwood On The Salish Sea there were a couple of orchestrated pieces from a movie soundtrack that gave birth to Mitch, Jess and the Rockwell-esque smalltown in the Pacific Northwest where they lived.

Richard I Levine is a native New Yorker raised in the shadows of Yankee Stadium. After dabbling in several occupations and a one-year coast-to-coast wanderlust trip, This one-time auxiliary police officer, volunteer fireman, bartender, and store manager returned to school to become a chiropractor.

A twenty-five-year cancer survivor, he’s a strong advocate for the natural healing arts. In 2006 he wrote, produced, and was on-air personality of The Dr. Rich Levine Show on Seattle’s KKNW 1150AM and after a twenty-five-year chiropractic practice in Bellevue, Washington, he closed up shop at the end of 2016 and moved to Oahu to pursue a dream of acting and being on Hawaii 5-O.

While briefly working as a ghostwriter/community liaison for a Honolulu City Councilmember, a Hawaii State Senator, and volunteering as an advisory board member of USVETS Barbers Point, he appeared as a background actor in over twenty-seven 5-Os, Magnum P.I.s, NCIS-Hawaii, and several Hallmark movies. In 2020, he had a co-star role in the third season episode of Magnum PI called “Easy Money.”

While he no longer lives in Hawaii, he says he will always cherish and be grateful for those seven years and all the wonderful people he’s met. His 5th novel, To Catch the Setting Sun, was inspired by his time in Hawaii.

Like Driftwood on the Salish Sea is Levine’s first foray into the romance genre.

📚 Back Story: Soul Stirrings by Anita Hackley Lambert #BackStories

📚Back Story: SOUL STIRRINGS

By Anita Hackley Lambert

I never set out to become an author for accolades or recognition. I wrote to survive—to breathe through the storm of my own silence.

My earliest inspiration didn’t come from a classroom or creative workshop. It came from deep pain—wounds that weren’t visible to the world but weighed heavily on my soul. By the time I turned fourteen, the trauma of my childhood had left me emotionally paralyzed. Depression had taken root. I was young, broken, and desperately trying to understand the purpose behind my pain.

Then, one evening during a small Christian fellowship at our kitchen table, something divine pierced through the darkness. The Holy Spirit rested upon me, and I heard His voice—not in the natural, but in my spirit. He said, “Anita, you can choose to be bitter or better. Which do you choose?” That moment was sacred, unforgettable. It changed everything. I chose better.

From that encounter, my calling was birthed. I picked up a pen and poured my pain onto the page, writing my first manuscript, No Where to Run. It was never published, but it served its purpose—it became my healing balm, my silent prayer, my soul’s release. Writing became more than a coping mechanism; it became a holy commission.

But I had to wait on God's timing—and that required obedience and much patience. For over sixteen years, I wrote in secret. I filled notebooks with dreams, outlines, and chapters, while continuing to live, learn, and grow spiritually. Though the vision tarried, I trusted the Lord to bring it forth in its season. That season finally arrived in 2023.

Without a traditional publisher or literary agent, I turned to Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP). It was a door God opened, and I walked through it. The process was intimidating at first—but liberating. From God’s guidance, I learned the essentials: formatting interiors, designing covers, crafting descriptions, and optimizing keywords. Most importantly, I prayed over every step. Each decision was guided by the Holy Spirit, from the cover concept to the final sentence.

Publishing through KDP allowed me to steward the message God entrusted to me without compromise. Since then, I’ve released several books, each one born from divine instruction and spiritual insight. These aren’t just titles—they are living testimonies. They represent altars in my life—points of divine encounter, revelation, healing, and transformation.

Now, I write not only to survive, but to help others do the same. My books are for the wounded and the weary, the searching, the silenced and anyone needing spiritual uplifting. I want them to know that God sees, hears, and heals because their lives matter to Him. I want them to realize that what nearly broke them can become the very platform from which they rise.

If there’s one truth I could share with every aspiring author, it would be this: do not wait for perfect circumstances. God’s timing may involve preparation, pruning, and perseverance—but when He says it’s time, move. You don’t need man's approval to fulfill a God-given purpose. If He gave you the story, He’ll provide the strength. He’ll equip you with everything you need to release it. The world is waiting, and your obedience could be the answer to someone’s silent prayer.

📚 Back Story: The Death of the Kremlin Czar by Jörg H. Trauboth #BackStories

📚Back Story: THE DEATH OF THE KREMLIN CZAR

By Jörg H. Trauboth

I had a dream. Russian troops were standing in front of Berlin and declaring that Germany was now Russian. We were to surrender and look forward to a life in communism and with the ruble. I woke up and realized that I wasn’t living in 1945, but 80 years later.
Exactly this has happened to Ukraine. For nearly three years, the country has been desperately fighting for its survival. It wants to reclaim its lost territories and peace. Like all of us.

As someone who knows Putin's biography and as a former general staff officer in NATO, I am convinced that there can be no negotiations with the Russian president. And if Ukraine gives up the territories because it runs out of weapons and ammunition, we in Central Europe will be next. Then my bad dream could come true.
“If a solution cannot be found on the battlefield, there must be another way to find one,” I thought.

I am also convinced that reality writes the best stories. You just have to recognize them.
So, I began to develop a plot for my fourth Marc Anderson thriller:

A group of oligarchs led by Alexei Sokolov wants to overthrow Russian President Ivan in Moscow. Just as Brutus and the senators did with Julius Caesar in Rome on the Ides of March. Modern history shows that it is difficult to overthrow a dictator by force. So, I gave Alexei a tough task, as he only had this one chance. And he is even preparing it with the support of the CIA, and with the knowledge of the US President, who of course knows nothing about it.

The plan is clever, but Alexei has a problem. He is having an affair with Yulia, the partner of the Russian President. Both are under pressure, as Ivan knows something.

On the flight to Moscow via Vilnius in Belarus, the plane with Alexei and Yulia on board is hijacked. The Ukrainian hijacker demands that his brother be released from Russian captivity. When the Russian President refuses, the plane begins an odyssey over Europe. The hijacker shoots the crew. The plane is without pilots and is programmed to crash into the Berlin Reichstag. The German government considers shooting down the passenger plane, which is legally forbidden. Crisis management between Berlin, Kyiv, and Washington is under enormous time pressure, as the plane is running out of fuel. The Czar in Moscow is silent. The former elite soldier Marc Anderson and his family are also on board. They are invited to a wedding celebration in Vilnius. Marc's wife, Jelke, pleads with her husband, a hobby pilot, to save them all. He and Alexei go into the cockpit and try to take control of the ailing Boeing 737-300 in the night sky.

Will they manage to fly and to land the plane? And how will the plan to bring down Ivan unfold?

At this point, I have to stop. But you can be sure. The ending is spectacular. By page 180 at the latest, you’ll want to know. Otherwise, you won’t be able to relax. At least, that’s what the readers of the German novel say.

Enjoy!

Jörg H. Trauboth, born in 1943 near Berlin, logged over two thousand flight hours as a Weapon Systems Officer Instructor in the Luftwaffe, flying PHANTOM F-4F / RF-4E and TORNADO fighter jets, and over 3000 hours in light aircraft. At the age of fifty, he left the service with the rank of Colonel in the General Staff. He received training as a Special Risk Consultant from the English Control Risk Group and served as Managing Director Germany, dealing with extortion and kidnapping cases in South America and Eastern Europe. Shortly thereafter, he founded his own consulting firm, quickly establishing an outstanding international reputation. Trauboth protected his clients with a 24-hour task force during product extortions, product recalls, kidnappings, and image crises. He was the first President of the European Crisis Management Academy in Vienna and President of the American Yankee Association.

He is known as a respected expert in the media on security-related topics. He volunteers as an emergency counselor and is a member of the Crisis Intervention Team (KIT Bonn) of the German Foreign Office. He is a private pilot, married, with two sons and three grandchildren.

In 2002, Trauboth wrote the now out of print standard work “Crisis Management for Company Threats”.

In 2016 the follow-up work was published with Jörg H. Trauboth as editor in collaboration with five authors: “Crisis Management in Companies and Public Institutions”.

Terror expert J. H. Trauboth presented his debut novel in 2015 with the Germany thriller “Three Brothers”. (Available in English). In 2019 “Operation Jerusalem” followed and in 2020 “Omega”. The trilogy is about the former elite soldier Marc Anderson and his team. With these three self-contained thrillers, Trauboth is rated by many readers as the “German Tom Clancy.” The trilogy is available as a printed edition, eBook and audio book.

His first detective novel, “Jakobs Weg” (German), followed in 2021. The highly explosive topic of “sexual abuse of children” is processed sensitively in a scenario on the Way of Saint James and at the end offers contact options for those seeking help.

In 2022, the novella “Bonjour Saint-Ex” was published (German) in which the passionate pilot Jörg H. Trauboth turns the last flight of the legend Antoine de Saint Exupéry into an exciting literary event.

Readers wanted a sequel to the Marc Anderson series. In 2023, ZarenTod – Das Ende der Präsidenten was published, a highly topical political thriller. The Russian president and new tsar, Ivan Pavlenko, suddenly shows his true face during the war in Ukraine. He wants the old Soviet Union back. The world is on the brink. The influential oligarch, Alexei Sokolov, wants to prevent Ivan’s megalomaniac plans and is planning a fundamental new beginning for Russia. To achieve this, the Russian president must be removed. But the plan goes awry. Ex-elite soldier Marc Anderson intervenes. Will Czar Ivan die? What will become of Europe? The book 8/ 2024 in English „The Death of the Kremlin Czar” is the fourth political thriller in the Marc Anderson series.

📚 Back Story: Ring of Rosin by Nancy Golden & Giveaway #BackStories #Giveaway

📚Back Story: RING OF ROSIN

By Nancy Golden

Ring of Rosin is the second book in the Dynamis Novels and continues the story of young King Rugal. It was the natural next book in my Dynamis series. In Book 1 we learn about the main character and his journey to become king of Elayas. We find out about the three symbols attached to the true ruler of Elayas: the Sword of Fate, the Ring of Rosin, and the Key of Power. The three books in the Dynamis trilogy each draw special significance from one of these symbols. I had a lot of fun with the characters and plot twists, and I think you will, too.

The first draft of the first book in the Dynamis Novels was written in 1986. Last year I took the draft from so long ago and worked it into what became the final manuscript of Sword of Fate. Interestingly, I had also written the first three chapters of Ring of Rosin back then. While it has evolved into a very different book from what I envisioned so long ago, the inspiration from those first three chapters is intact and drives the plot line. Once I started work on Ring of Rosin, it moved rapidly, and I completed the final version six months after I returned to those three chapters. Ring of Rosin officially launched on September 2, 2024.

I am a big fan of encouraging others to open their hearts and minds to people who are different from them, especially people from different cultures. We have so much to learn from each other and even though it can be uncomfortable, we are richer for doing so. We often find we have much more in common than we are different. That is definitely a theme that is explored in Ring of Rosin. My characters go through a myriad of challenges, but they learn and grow from them.

I decided to self-publish for numerous reasons. I love having the control of my content and book covers. I appreciate scheduling my own publication dates and it is much faster than if it was on a traditional publisher’s schedule. I must say it is a tremendous amount of work – I have hard-earned knowledge that allows me to do what needs to be done. It is also very expensive. I am very committed to representing myself and my books with integrity and to do the best job that I am able. This means I hire beta readers to read early versions and provide feedback. This means that I hire a professional editor and even after my final draft is edited, I go through it a final time before publishing. This means I hire a professional graphic artist that (with my input) designs the cover. All of these are very expensive and time-consuming, but they are worth it because the book that you, dear reader, will have in your hands, is the best possible version that I can produce.

To sum up why I write: I love having a positive impact on my readers. When my writing touches someone’s heart, or they find themselves immersed in the story as an entertaining haven away from the trials of this world, or the message in its pages provides someone with hope – it doesn’t matter how hard it gets (and being an author gets very hard)– it makes being an author worthwhile. Ring of Rosin was written with that in mind. My hope is that it is a “light in the darkness” that entertains you and brightens your day.

Nancy Golden wears a lot of different hats – She is a wife and mom, author, engineer, professor, horsewoman, and small business owner. She is also the founder of a writing group – the Carrollton League of Writers. Nancy lives in a suburb of Dallas, Texas and she loves to ride bicycles and horses. She is a member of the National Space Society, and she has been a Trekkie for as long as she can remember. Nancy Golden Books provides a great reader experience with well-crafted writing that will brighten your day.
